T.K. Khan was born in Karachi, Pakistan in PNS Shifa, a hospital shaped like a ship. She grew up in 1980s Chicago and told her kindergarten teacher she wanted to be an author and a cobbler after reading The Elves and the Shoemaker. Luckily, she became an author. She still lives in Chicago with her husband, daughter and an overflowing bookcase.
