Debi Larson

Editor

Debi Larson grew up in Southwest Washington. She has followed her husband to Idaho, Ohio, and Utah for his schooling, which is still ongoing. She has three children, and knows she is a successful mother when she can‘t sit in her living room due to the piles of books her children have brought out to enjoy. She currently does freelance editing after bedtime, but when she’s not reading, Debi is game for pretty much anything, as long as there is overly-buttered popcorn involved.

  • Books

Oh, sit tight. This could take me all day. In children’s literature, I love “Hooway for Wodney Wat,” by Helen Lester, “Mustache!” by Mac Barnett, and “Creepy Carrots!” by Aaron Reynolds. In juvenile fiction, I enjoy the “Half Upon a Time” series by James Riley, “Heir Apparent,” by Vivian Vande Velde, and of course the “Harry Potter” series by JK Rowling. Oh, and Lois Lowry’s “The Giver.” In adult literature, I really enjoy “Leaving Time,” by Jodi Picoult. Lots of books try to have a surprise ending, but that one truly did, and it was impressive. I also love “The Help,” by Kathryn Stockett, “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society,” by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows, and Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice.” I also love all of Aline Romanones’ spy books. I’d better stop myself there.

  • Film

Amazing Grace and August Rush. I also enjoy old Rogers and Hammerstein musicals.
  • Shows

I don’t watch much TV. I was enjoying “Deception,” but that only lasted one season.

  • Music

Anything that makes me move. I’m really enjoying 50’s Doo-wop right now.

  • Games

    Boggle, Mastermind, Othello, and Rummikub
  • Character

Despite popular opinion, I really love Cinderella. I have this whole spiel I’ll give to anyone who will listen about how she’s really a strong character, despite what most people say. I also love Hermione Granger. I really connected with her when those books first came out.
