Some of you have been very naughty, it seems. We’ve come with the results of the October 2014 Reader’s Choice Poll and some bad news. Let’s start with the bad news.
Some people have tried to game the system with the Reader’s Choice Poll, artificially inflating vote numbers with some browser trickery. Without going into the details, some major discrepancies in our traffic results started cropping up yesterday, indicating there was some voter fraud going on (from more than one person). We have no way of knowing who it was, but it stinks. So stop it. We’ve made a few changes that will hopefully prevent this sort of thing in the future.
For now, the current results as displayed by the poll widget are inaccurate, and we can’t use the final tally to indicate the winner. The good news is that, as far as we can tell, the fraudulent voting happened only on Thursday. Therefore, we’ve taken the results of the poll up through Wednesday night to determine the winner of the Reader’s Choice Poll.
